Joe Proto is a veteran fintech executive, entrepreneur, investor, and board leader with more than 40 years of experience in banking, payments, and financial technology. He has founded, scaled, and successfully exited multiple companies and is widely recognized for his strategic leadership across the payments ecosystem.

Joe co-founded CashFlex, acquired by Wells Fargo, and REMITCO, later acquired by First Data (Fiserv). He most notably served as Chairman and CEO of Transactis, building the company into a leading billing and payments platform for major financial institutions before its acquisition by Mastercard in 2019. Following the acquisition, he served as Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor at Mastercard. Joe was also involved in the 2022 sale of DadeSystems to Versapay/Great Hill, and the 2024 sale of ActiveWorx to High Radius.

Joe’s current professional roles include Co-founder and Partner at Windham Capital; member of the Google Cloud Executive Advisory Board; Board Chairman of Finexio; and Board Director for LendKey, Green Check Verified, and Identifee. He also serves as an Advisor to Nordis Technologies, Andromeda Systems (ASI), CheckAlt, and MonexUSA, and has participated on advisory councils for industry organizations including NACHA.
